When I started putting together this rundown of the feature articles from D Magazine that got the most attention online in 2013, I wasn’t expecting to come out of it feeling like 2013 was such a bummer of a year. Unfortunately there were too many tragedies that demanded the attention of our writers.

They aren’t all downers, though. There are stories of colorful characters who help make our great city what it is (not to mention one cute dog.)
