RE: SLAM DUNKIN’

|

A wistful FrontBurnervian has fond memories and a wary outlook:

That’s awesome news. I grew up in Arlington and had a DD nearby, but I spent a lot of weekends in Richardson and Plano, so going to DD for donuts was a routine. Sadly now, I have to drive up to Plano for my DD fix. Krispy Kreme has nothing on DD. Neither does Starbucks. I’ll drink DD coffee anyday. Reminds me of my short stint in Boston with DDs all over.

Sad news is that Dallasites will have to pace ourselves, or else Dallas will become the fattest city in the country, as well as the highest diabetes population. At least we have UT Southwestern to help with the diabetes problem. The city can be their research pool of specimens.

About the coffee: I read a really good WSJ story about two or three months ago about the difference between Starbucks coffee and Dunkin’ Donuts. The difference is more about the drink than the brew. Seems the latter just can’t fathom the “experience” of the former. You know, sipping on lattes, lounging on couches, talking on Bluetooth headsets. It does seem kinda silly.
