The dream of Cassie Green and her husband Gary Stephens was to open a grocery store that would offer not only shelves stocked with locally made items, but an array of organic and non-GMO foods. They began their mission in Chicago where their Green Grocer location is still running strong. They opened a second location on Greenville Avenue on January 26, 2013.

In June, they used social media to ask their customers to increase support. They were struggling to make it on Greenville Avenue. It’s sad that the neighborhood couldn’t sustain this one-stop shop for local goods and fresh food and juices. Last night they announced they are pulling the plug on the store and moving on to another health and wellness project. Subscribe to their newsletter at greengrocerdallas.com for updates.

Green Grocer will be open from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. this week offering deep discounts.
