There’s no excuse to not get outdoors, Dallas (except maybe the thunderstorm this afternoon.) Either way, you have to eat, so get out there.

Here is your weekly lineup of dining events.

Wednesday

True Food Kitchen hosts a Farm To Plate Community Dinner at 5:30 p.m. Chef Arik Markus plans to prepare four courses with four different wines. You can view the menu here. Tickets are available online for $55. Call 214-377-3333 for more information.

The Dogfish Head Beer Dinner with Sam Calagione at Meddlesome Moth is now sold out. However, you can still head over to Rahr & Sons Brewery for a mid-week tasting from 5 to 7:30 p.m. The featured brew is 2013 vintage Tenderfoot. Hungry? Much on Gepetto’s Pizza afterwards.

In honor of the USA Film Festival, Salum hosts Chef Makoto Suzuki, Journalist Akiko Katayama and Sake Expert and Sommelier Tiffany Dawn Soto for a Japanese Global Dinner. Thursday

Chef Melissa Wagner will prepare a five-course April Dinner of local, organic and sustainable cuisine at Urban Acres. Want to pair the food with vino? You can bring your own bottle of wine. A finalized menu and suggested wine parings will be announced prior to the dinner. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. and tickets are available online for $85. Call (214) 466-1260 for more information.

Grain at Hilton Dallas/Park Cities is teaming up with Lakewood Brewing Co. for a beer pairing inspired by the great state of Texas. Menu highlights include Braised Quail Cake, Candied Goat Cheese Salad, Espresso and Temptress Braised Short Ribs, and Coriannder Vanilla Bean and Lager Poached Pears. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available online for $50 or call 469-232-4962 for reservations.

A Community Cooks is back again. Enjoy a farm-fresh dining experience with Dallas’s most celebrated chefs while supporting a good cause: the WE Over Me Farm who provides healthy food and education in the food desert surrounding Paul Quinn College. The lineup features Mark Wootton of Garden Café, Uno Immanivong of Chino Chinatown, Graham Dodds of Hibiscus, Patton Robertson Five Sixty by Wolfgang Puck, view the full list here. Friday

Denton Arts and Jazz Festival kicks off today. It features six outdoor stages and six food courts. Satisfy your appetite with German sausage, hot dogs, turkey legs, corn dogs, salads and more. You can view the full list here. The festival runs until 9 p.m. on Sunday.

Real. Texas. Festival. hosts the 9th annual Real. Texas. BBQ Cook-Off. With the “Cook of the Year” award and national recognition at stake. Categories are Brisket, Pork Spare Ribs and One-half Chicken. Email Bennye Rice at [email protected] to participate.

If sweets are more your thing, join 99.5-The Wolf and Kevin Fowler for the “Funnel Cakes with Fowler” contest. Five people will compete to see who can finish a funnel cake the quickest. Enter here.

Head over to Method: Caffeination & Fare for a five-course Coffee Dinner with Spirited Cooking, as part of a monthly series. That’s right, food paired with coffee. The trendy shop also offers espresso classes. Tickets are available online for $70 per person.

Add more notches to your culinary repertoire at the Dallas Farmers Market this weekend. Chefs Cooking Class Series returns for Spring. Chef Grant Morgan from The Ranch at Las Colinas will be sharing his approach to Texas inspired meals. The class begins at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are available starting at $25. Where do art and chocolate intersect? It’s a celebration of the two at 11th Annual Chocolate Fest. The event features art exhibits, a silent auction, live music, and of course, chocolate samples from area chocolatiers, caterers, bakeries, and restaurants. Get your chocolate fix from 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Austin Ranch in Grapevine.

Texas Ale Project celebrates its Grand Opening Celebration. The brewery will be launching Fire Ant Funeral, Somethin’ Shady, 50 FT Jackrabbit, and Naked Truth brews. They say, “You won’t want to miss it, and if you do…trust us, you’ll be sad.” The event runs from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. Tickets range from $20-$50 and can be purchased here.

North Texas Firkin Fest means craft beer, special releases and tappings from Texas breweries all day. The lineup: Peticolas Brewing, Community Beer Company, Saint Arnold Brewing, Real Ale Brewing, Deep Ellum Brewing, Rabbit Hole Brewing, Rahr Brewing and Martin Frost & Hill. Tickets range from $10-$70.

Sunday

Big D Reads presents a True Grit Cooking Demonstration at Highland Hills Branch Library. Attendees will discuss highlights from the book and learn how to make grits and chuck wagon chili.
