If you’ve yet to see a film at the Texas Theatre since Aviation Cinemas took over the lease 18 months ago, you’re doing Dallas wrong.
In that time, the Texas Theatre has offered retrospective screenings on 35mm, indie and foreign films that otherwise wouldn’t find theatrical release, filmmaker appearances, Tuesday night trash, underground screenings of avant-garde cinema, themed music parties, filmmaker functions, screenwriting classes, and movie production launch parties. The four filmmakers responsible for the theater’s transformation—Eric Steele, Adam Donaghey, Barak Epstein, and Jason Reimer—launched the inaugural Oak Cliff Film Festival two months ago. For all these reasons and more, it’s the best movie theater in town.
Which brings me to the good stuff. We have two pairs of “use anytime” tickets to give away, courtesy of the Texas Theatre. To enter, go to the Wufoo form here, and put “Texas Theatre tickets” in the line that asks you what you’re entering to win.
P.S. The Texas Theatre screens The Dark Knight Rises, in 35 mm, until August 9. The power of Christopher Nolan compels you. We will draw the two winners randomly at 5 pm.
