The News reported that the mayor would issue a statement today regarding the recall petition, but as it turns out, she is returning from a vacation overseas. Her chief of staff, Frank Librio, says that the statement will probably come tomorrow. (Librio has kept busy since he joined the mayor’s staff. His fifth day on the job marked the start of the FBI investigation; now he’s got a possible recall to worry about.)

As for the group Clergy for Recall, it has reserved the Flag Room at City Hall at 2 o’clock to make its announcement. Developing.
