This summer, I wrote of Palmer’s Hot Chicken coming to Dallas. Now it’s nearly here, with its official arrival on October 19 in the Hillside Village Shopping Center.

The new Nashville hot chicken restaurant joins a wave of like-minded newcomers. Ricky’s Hot Chicken was among the earliest to bring Nashville’s fiery fried chicken to North Texas. In May, Chirps Chicken Shack opened in the former LG Taps space on Greenville Avenue. Meanwhile in Old East Dallas, Lucky’s Hot Chicken appeared—rotating sign post out front, retro-styled design inside—last month. Then there’s Hattie B’s, a real-deal, Nashville-based hot chicken chain, which is exploring an expansion into Dallas, reports Eater Dallas.

Dallas, who knew we were in dire need of spicy meat sweats? The year 2020, ever delivering on the things we didn’t ask for.

Owner Palmer Fortune and chef-business-partner Mills Garwood hope you like the mouth-tingling recipe they’ve developed, which adheres to the Nashville hot chicken archetype: skin must “have a certain type of bark, it’s not soggy or sloppy, it’s not wet,” says Fortune. (The duo’s had previous success at their Porch in St. Simon’s Island, Georgia.

Beyond hot chicken, expect a wide-ranging menu: roasted chicken, salads, wraps, shrimp and fish tacos, a full bar, and the ever-trendy frosé. The dining room space with a large covered patio.

Palmer’s Hot Chicken will be open for lunch and dinner, dine-in or to-go (delivery options forthcoming), at 6465 East Mockingbird Lane.
