Forty Five Ten seems to know what its customers want before they want it. So when the McKinney Avenue purveyor of all things chic recently expanded its home goods section, we took it as a sign that Dallas is about to have a major nesting moment.
This isn’t the boutique’s first foray into the home arena. Devoted shoppers might remember the plentiful array of decorative accessories the store offered in its early years. Over time, the home merchandise was scaled back as the popular T Room restaurant expanded into its territory. But even though the goods were reduced, they were not forgotten. “We’ve been wanting to blow out our home section again for a while but just needed the right moment,” says Forty Five Ten home buyer Meghan Looney. That moment came when owner Brian Bolke snapped up a storefront in Highland Park Village to open Five and Ten, a concept store offering a young mix of clothing, accessories, and home items, including John Derian’s decoupage trays and Hugo Guinness’ framed drawings.
As select merchandise shifted to the sister store, the newly freed-up floor space in Forty Five Ten allowed decor to once again take a starring role. Working with Bolke, Looney filled the shelves with expanded offerings from the shop’s popular mainstays, including Waylande Gregory and Eduardo Garza, as well as new lines like Kelly Wearstler’s bold home accessories. The team plans to bring in additional linen and china, along with a small selection of furniture.
