Spring break is just around the corner… For those of you who, like me, have been woefully lax in the planning department, herewith a few intriguing activities for you and the littles.

Green Spot’s Five-Year Anniversary
Typically we wouldn’t call out the anniversary party of a convenience store (even if said convenience store stocks healthy/green snacks), however, this soiree seems quite promising. It’s happening tomorrow from 8-1 and features live music all day, a juggler, kids crafts, free coffee and punch, and, wait for it… $.99 breakfast tacos. Count us in.

Dallas Heritage Village Spring Fling
Then from Tuesday, March 12 – Friday, March 15, there’s the “Spring Fling” at Dallas Heritage Village where you can check out the new semi-permanent exhibit, Cedars Stories and partake in activities and crafts inspired by the history of City Park, including a nature-walk and hunt, carriage rides, croquet games, hat making, and more. But the highlight of the event (at least for me) is the “Yarn Bombing” exhibit featuring colorful knitting and crocheting covering lampposts, trees, the clock…you name it. The village is open from 10–4 each day, and activities run from 11–2. There will also be a free grand opening party for the “Cedars Stories” exhibit from 6–8 on Thursday, complete with live music by Old Time Music Jam and tasty food truck eats. Tickets are $9/ adults; $5 / kids 4-12; and children 3 and under are free. All activities are free with admission.

Spring Break at the Nasher
Finally, in honor of spring break, the Nasher is offering half-price admission from March 9–17. They’re also hosting a special Spring Break ‘til Midnight on Friday, March 15 from 6–midnight. The free evening features a concert by The King Bucks at 7 p.m. (think traditional country, boogie, rockabilly, and soul) followed by an outdoor screening of Fantastic Mr. Fox at 9:00 (and, of course, ample opportunities for art ogling). You can purchase grab and go salads, sandwiches, snacks, and beverages from the Nasher Cafe that evening or pre-reserve a picnic basket by calling 214.242.5144 by March 13.
