I am enchanted with Isabelle and Katherine Adams.
After watching a video last year detailing the plight of rural families in Ethiopia whose only source of water often is polluted and incredibly hard to obtain, the Dallas sisters (age 8 and 6 respectively) decided to take action.
With the help of their parents, Ken and Deborah Adams, Isabelle and Katherine began creating intricate and incredibly beautiful origami Christmas ornaments to sell through their Paper for Water project, donating proceeds to help solve the Ethiopian water plight. In 2011, between local fundraisers and a matching contribution, the girls raised the $9,200 needed to fund a well that provides water for over 500 people in Ethiopia. (The Dallas Morning News did a piece earlier this year detailing the sister’s project.)
Tomorrow from 10 a.m. — 2 p.m., the girls are hosting a trunk show of their creations at the Lotus Shop in the Crow Collection of Asian Art where they’ll be talking about their works and their inspiration behind Paper for Water.
