Back in October, City of Ate reported that Origin Natural Food (4438 McKinney Avenue, Suite 150) was closing down its takeaway-food-and-coffee program, changing things up, and re-opening as a restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Well, today is the big day.

After a couple months of downtime (and using #originevolves at the tail end of several Facebook updates), Origin has finally transformed. It’s now been rebranded as Origin Kitchen + Bar. Long gone are the days of chef-prepared foods packed in plastic containers. (Our contributor, Matthew Shelley, was never a big fan.) Chef Jeff Smith, who has been with Origin since its microwaveable days, is now cooking “rustic California-inspired cuisine” for sit-down diners. And, don’t worry, there’s still a coffee bar. It ain’t going away anytime soon.

Owners Russell and Jessica Aldredge have also added cocktails, beer, and wine to their menus. Check out the feast below.
