Enough With the Hump Day Jokes. Let’s Do This!

|

Wednesday may not be your favorite day of the week, what with all of the hump-day jokes and empty DVR cache, but there’s hope. Here’s what you could be doing (and drinking):

Hands-on:

Option A: Pumpkin Carving at The Old Monk — Get drunk and messy (for a good cause this time). Plunk down a 10-spot and you’ll receive a pumpkin, a carving kit, and a free pint of Guinness, Smithwicks, Harp, Black & Tan, or Half & Half. (Sharp instruments and beer — fantastic!) For every pumpkin sold, The Old Monk will match the $10, and all proceeds will be donated to The North Texas Food Bank.

Option B: Fresh Pasta class at Central Market — Finally make good on those Tuscan resolutions by learning to make, roll out, and cut your own fresh pasta with Central Market’s fab Cooking School staff. No word on whether or not there’ll be wine, but knowing Holly and the gang, I’d lay money on it.  $55

jump here for the good stuff…

Hands-off:
Option A: Demon tapping at Meddlesome Moth — Flights of Avery’s Demon series — Mephistopheles, Samael, and The Beast — go for $15 (believe me when I tell you that this is a rare treat and a good value) and can be paired with a special menu of chile-rubbed, bone-in pork chop, Ibarra chocolate risotto, and cilantro and pumpkin-seed pesto. Don’t expect these in-demand demons to hang around until Halloween; in fact, we’ll be lucky if they last the night.

Option B: The Grape‘s monthly Come-As-You-Are Dinner — Enjoy a slow-paced, 3-course, bistro-style dinner by Chef Luscher with wines from the award-winning Paso Robles, California vineyard. $45

Bottom line: Consider this your mid-week public service announcement. If you’re still sitting home bored and sober tomorrow night, let the record show that we tried our best to help you.
