Technically I’m no longer in Paris–I just arrived in Milan earlier this evening–but I have a few highlights from the City of Light to share. Mostly it’s just food porn, because hopefully you like to look at food pics as much as I do. First up: hot chocolate from Angelina, a classic Parisian tearoom on the rue de Rivoli, which, happily, was only steps away from Le Meurice, where I stayed for two nights. My sweet friend Phillip Nikpour, co-owner of the Wine Therapist in Lakewood, turned me on to Angelina, which has made Travel + Leisure’s list of the top spots in the world for hot chocolate. It’s so beautifully thick and creamy–and, yes, outrageously decadent–that you’ll turn your nose up at every other version. I even tried a cup at L’heure Gourmande, a stop on my pastry tour with former Dallasite Croque Camille (more on that later), and it couldn’t hold up to Angelina–and it was a tad more expensive to boot. (Not that Angelina is cheap at 6.90 euros, but the best things in life ain’t cheap.)
