Yesterday we told you about the Pulitzer-winning play, The Flick, which opens at Undermain this week. Then Liz Johnstone popped up with a very helpful list of reasons you should actually go see this production. Pay attention whenever Johnstone gives her advice on local theater; she’s one of the most discerning critics in town.

Central Market is offering a sushi class at their Lovers location this evening, and the reason I mention it is because I would trust their sushi over any other grocery store. The prospect of this cuisine at most places would usually be a dubious choice, but I trust CM. They’ve been good to me over the years. Rolls included will be Philadelphia, Classic California, cucumber, and more. Classes are $60 and there are still 30 spots left as of this posting.

Just a few blocks from D Headquarters, virtuoso composer Conrad Tao and the DSO will present Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini. Included in the program will be a tribute to the late and revered Dallas Symphony Orchestra Conductor, Eduardo Mata. As a little bonus, here’s our preview of Mata conducting an evening of Beethoven and Shostakovich from January 1978. This program runs through January 11. That’s at 7:30 this evening. Consider a drink at Proof + Pantry to get things started.
