Creditors Descend on Dallas Roof Gardens

|

We’ve chronicled some of the problems down at Dallas Roof Gardens and the restaurant Luqa. But yesterday apparently was action-packed, as Oncor showed up to turn off the electricity. Here’s the scene as it was described to me:

In the business it’s called a DNP. Disconnect for Non-Pay. When Oncor went down there yesterday to DNP, owner Obi Ibeto had locked himself in the building with his staff. Evidently word of the proceedings had spread, as a group of other creditors was there waiting outside. When the locksmith had trouble getting the doors open, Dallas police were called.
Once they got in, it was like a looting. Multiple Dallas Roof Gardens vendors began repossessing equipment and inventory. One liquor supplier hauled case after case of booze out of the joint and into waiting trucks.

Folks from Oncor said it was the hardest DNP they’d done in 24 years.
