An FBvian who knows how to travel understands the subtleties of Atlanta and its suburb, Domino (Texas):
Your post brought back memories. I used to work for a company that performed work at the IP-Domino paper mill at the end of the road past the beer store (yes, that job stunk). Once, when leaving of a Friday afternoon we stopped in at the store and bought a case of beer and a bag of ice. $20. No change. That was 1992. Beer and highway robbery.
Of course, I no longer drink and drive nor do I condone or recommend the practice. Damn I miss the good ole days sometimes, though. I beer per hour while driving…just the perfect tonic for those long lonely drives out west….sigh.
BTW, that record for beer price stood until 2004 when I bought a case of beer in the Pribilof Islands of Alaska…for $40. Fortunately per diem was $65.
