LIVE FROM THE STRIKE ZONE

Indeed, Friscans and Prosperites and all manner of near-Oklahomans are tired of driving an hour and a half to work each day, but at least they don’t have to walk an hour and a half to work today. Well, neither did I, but that’s how long it would have taken me from my apartment in Brooklyn to my office, at DailyCandy, in Soho. Hoards of people were doing it; I thought it might be fun. I just couldn’t figure how I would get home in the dark and the cold.

Because of the transit strike (so exciting!!!!) I am working from the cozy of my own home. My roommate (a former D Magazine intern) however, was instructed to carpool it. Can you guess how long it took her to get to the Time Inc. headquarters in Midtown? Ding, ding, ding. AN HOUR AND A HALF!

So there you go: 90 minutes is the average commute from hell, no matter what part of the country you live in, regardless of how you get from A to B. (My very unscientific conclusion.)
