Fans of D Home magazine are familiar with the luxury furniture, lighting, and wall décor brand Arteriors. Founded right here in Dallas in 1987, they will soon be opening a shop in the Design District. But before it opens, we had a few questions for what inspires the company founder and head of the brand, Mark Moussa. Check out the list below: he’s clearly a fashionable foodie.

  1. Bolsa restaurant in Oak Cliff – They’ve got an amazing Sunday brunch and the best pizza (besides mine of course!)
  2. Art – The Dallas Art Fair is the perfect introduction to the Contemporary Art World, and much closer then Basel. It is held every April and continues to grow as the rest of the world discovers how much Texans love art. My favorite discovery this year was The Hus Gallery, a vibrant, British gallery that focuses on emerging artists from around the world.
  3. I love to sit at the bar at R + D Kitchen. It has a neighborhood bar feel to it and the food is amazing. They might have the best hamburger in town, but the salmon is great too.
  4. For years Suzanne at Stanley Korshak has never steered me wrong when it comes to men’s fashion. Casual to evening attire she is always spot on. The glass of wine always helps while I am there.
  5. The product development studio at our Dallas office – I am constantly on the go and so I love to start my first day back by walking through it looking at all of the new samples that arrived while I was away. . . it’s kind of like Christmas!
  6. Al Biernat’s is the best for fresh oysters and a great chardonnay. It’s got the perfect atmosphere for lots and lots of people watching.
  7. India – It’s great to be able to work there and I absolutely love the people, culture, artisans and factory relationships that I have established throughout the 25 years we have been in business. There are also so many great sights to see as well – my favorite cities to visit are New Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, and Jodhpur.
  8. Harbor Island in the Bahamas for the pink sandy beach.  It’s one of the best places for kicking back and getting a little R & R and everyone drives around the island in golf carts which is so fun. Some friends of mine own The Dunmore which is the best place to stay because their staff makes you feel right at home.
  9. Image Eyewear – This shop on Oak Lawn is my go-to for eyewear. They have a ton of my favorite brands, from Tom Ford to Moscot. I am constantly looking to add to my collection and love having a variety of eyewear options because it gives me a chance to express my style.
  10. Cycling – When the weather is good I go to White Rock Lake in East Dallas to do a few loops around the lake. If I need to bring the workout inside I head over to The Move Project or Terlingo Cycle – they are all great workouts!
