The first hotel to open near Love Field airport since the Wright Amendment was repealed in 2014 has now opened its doors. Atlantic Hotels Group, Starwood Hotels and Resorts, and Civitas Capital Group built the dual-branded, Aloft Dallas Love Field and Element Dallas Love Field hotel at the 37-acre West Love development, a mixed-use project on West Mockingbird Lane.
“The past few years have seen a significant increase in business travelers and visitors around the Dallas Love Field corridor,” Caroline Perel, managing director for Civitas, said in a statement. “The strategic dual-branded Aloft and Element Dallas Love Field hotel meets a strong demand for lodging in the area, while also acting as a catalyst for continued economic development.”
The 224-room hotel will bear the two names—Aloft Dallas Love Field and Element Dallas Love field—as both brands will share the eight-story building. The line in the sand will come with different ground floor public areas and elevators. The hotel is the first dual-branded property between the two brands. The total cost for the construction was not disclosed, but a 2015 Civitas release announcing plans for the hotel priced the development at over $40 million.
“The Aloft and Element brands offer unique amenities that will cater directly to the growing demands of travelers near the airport and the Medical District,” Perry Molubhoy, the Atlantic CEO, said in a statement. “Whether looking for eco-friendly lodging or a live music scene, guests will find all that they are looking for and more at this … development at the heart of a bustling Dallas neighborhood.”
A Relay robot, manufactured by Savioke, will be among the many amenities. The robot has been nicknamed BOTLR by Aloft hotels and is a “robotic butler that mainly assists with small deliveries such as towels, toiletries or even drinks from the bar.” The robot will be the first Relay robot in Texas. The electronic butler accepts tweets as a way of showing thanks in place of cash tips.
In addition to the hotel, the West Love development includes an apartment complex and 65,000 square feet of retail space.
