Chris York will be the new president of Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas. He will succeed Jim Parobek, who was named president in July 2020 after serving as interim in 2019.

With more than 30 years of healthcare leadership experience, his most recent position was as market CEO of Community Health Systems at Northwest Health System in Springdale, Arkansas, where he had been since January 2022.

Before his role with CHS, York worked for Baylor Scott & White Health for nearly 15 years, most recently as president of Baylor Scott & White Center Grapevine. Prior to that, he was president of Baylor Scott & White Waxahachie, where he led the hospital for four years. He joined BSWH in 2007 and was chief operating officer for the system’s grapevine hospital Grapevine from 2011 to 2014.

He also held leadership positions at WellStar Health System in Marietta, Georgia; Ballard Health in Johnson City, Tennessee; and Vizient Performance Consulting in Charlotte, North Carolina.

York has long been eyed for leadership. He was a fellow with the Baylor Scott & White Health/Southern Methodist University Executive Development and Growth Experience and the Advisory Board Co./Harvard University. He also received the 2019 Erie Chapman Foundation Healthcare CEO of the Year.

He will lead the 875-bed hospital and collaborate with the system’s executive leadership team to direct the hospital’s operations for the 29-hospital system affiliated with UT Southwestern. Texas Health Dallas is undergoing a $60 million renovation of the Margot Perot Center for Women and Infants with design work by HKS. It includes a complete overhaul of the labor and delivery unit and operating rooms. The project will include new designs for patient floors and public areas, including the inpatient post-surgical unit, triage unit, postpartum unit, concierge suites, elevators, and entrances, and will be done this year.

“Chris is joining the organization at an exciting time for Texas Health Dallas, as we are nearing completion of a $60 million renovation of The Margot Perot Center for Women and Infants,” said Kirk King, chief operating officer of hospitals for Texas Health. “He also will focus on key clinical program growth and investments in physician workforce and campus enhancements. Our Dallas hospital has been a trusted community partner for decades, and we’re planning for significant opportunities in the future.”

York’s first day will be May 8.
