SMU Hires Second New Dean in Recent Weeks

Jason P. Nance, Dean at Dedman School of Law

Jason P. Nance

Jason P. Nance will replace Jennifer M. Collins, who will become president of Rhodes College in Memphis. Previously, Nance served as associate dean for research and faculty development and professor of law at the University of Florida Levin College of Law. In his new role, Nance will help SMU advance its reputation in the legal and business communities and expand its impact. He was the reporter for the American Bar Association’s Joint Task Force on Reversing the School-to-Prison Pipeline—he co-authored a report and proposed resolutions that the ABA adopted. Nance will assume his role at SMU on August 10.

Stefan Smith helps clients navigate employee benefits and executive compensation matters, particularly retirement plans. In BakerHostetler’s Dallas office, he joins the firm’s Tax Practice Group and is on its Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation Team. Smith is part of the firm’s commitment to growing its Dallas office and Tax Practice Group. Previously, Smith was a partner at Locke Lord.

Pamela Hunt, Chief Financial Officer

Before joining Brix Holdings, Pamela Hunt was the vice president of finance and accounting at Bioworld Merchandising and the vice president and controller at On the Border Mexican Grill & Cantina. At Dallas-based multi-brand restaurant management and franchising company Brix Holdings, Hunt will oversee the company’s financial activities. Brix Holdings’ portfolio includes Orange Leaf, Friendly’s Restaurants, Smoothie Factory, and Red Mango.

Tami Cannizzaro, Chief Marketing Officer

In her new role at Thryv Holdings, a small business platform for growing small- to medium-size businesses, Tami Cannizzaro will play a key role in implementing the company’s growth strategy. Previously, she was responsible for a $75 million marketing-generated pipeline as vice president, growth marketing at Austin-based cybersecurity company Forcepoint. Thryv manages the digital and print presence of over 400,000 businesses, and more than 46,000 businesses use its SaaS platform.

Laura Condley, Senior Vice President, Director of Market Development in the Fort Worth Market

Laura Condley has been promoted after joining Simmons Bank as a market retail manager in 2020. In her new role, she will deepen and develop customer relationships, oversee private client and business banking, and provide collaborative financial solutions across all business channels in Simmons Bank’sFort Worth market. Prior to joining Simmons, Condley held VP-branch manager roles at Regions Bank and JPMorgan Chase & Co.

Tim Maiden, Senior Vice President, Director of Market Development in the Dallas Market

Tim Maiden has been promoted after joining Simmons Bank in 2019. In his new role, he will oversee private client and business banking, provide collaborative financial solutions across all business channels, and deepen and develop customer relationships in Simmons Bank’s Dallasmarket. Maiden also co-founded Dallas-based nonprofit The Maiden Foundation, alongside his identical twin brother Terrence. It invests resources in disenfranchised communities.

Brandon Brawner, Vice President of Brokerage

The Retail Connection has promoted Brandon Brawner from his previous role as associate broker. Now, he will focus on land acquisition and disposition and tenant and landlord representation. Brawner currently leads Dunkin’s expansion across DFW, as the donut giant plans 50 more locations over the next five years. He also represents F45 Fitness, Mattress Firm, Cheeky Monkeys, Sunoco, Hwy 55 Burgers, and Amazon Pickup. Prior to joining TRC in 2015, he served as manager for consulting firm Protiviti.

Miles Hoisington, Assistant Vice President

Miles Hoisington has been promoted from his role as commercial real estate analyst to focus on landlord and tenant representation. Hoisington joined The Retail Connection as an analyst in brokerage in 2018 and has worked on site selection and national strategy for Topgolf. During his time on the project, the entertainment golf company opened 15 new locations. Hoisington also previously managed a team of more than 80 brokers at TRC. Prior to joining TRC, he was an intern at Hoisington Investments Management Co. in Austin, which manages a $4 billion portfolio.

Now, he will focus on tenant and landlord representation.

Corrigan currently helps clients navigate changes driven by the energy transition, related sustainability reporting requirements, and de-carbonization efforts. Before joining Alvarez & Marsal, he worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he was a principal in its Strategy practice, and Murphy USA, where he served as senior vice president of strategy.

Prior to joining the Arlington Convention & Visitors Bureau, Joele Brew Hatton was associate director of sales for the Omni Dallas Hotel. In her new role, Hatton will support the Arlington CVB sales team’s operations to achieve objectives for the sale of hotel meetings and other Arlington venues. She will also help develop and implement investment return strategies in sales. Arlington has more than 14.5 million visitors each year and employs more than 11,000 people in the tourism and hospitality industry.

Bill Wilson is tax director at Big Four firm Whitley Penn’s Dallas office, where he focuses on passthrough entity taxation and tax controversy matters. Prior to joining Whitley Penn, he worked for the IRS for 37 years, culminating in a role as senior internal revenue agent. He will serve on the Federal Tax Policy Committee, which acts as the voice of Texas CPAs to the Department of Treasury, the IRS, and Congress. It also provides information to TXCPA members on the effects of administrative decisions, pending legislation, and regulations.
