To anyone dreaming of landing a job as a high-powered style expert at a painfully cool glossy magazine (just like that of yours truly at D Magazine!), you can pick up a few pointers next weekend at the Simply Stylist event. Sarah Boyd, mastermind behind this fashion industry networking affair, founded this event to connect the fashion- and beauty-minded with industry vets in-the-know. I’m beyond flattered to have been invited to sit on her Fashion & Beauty panel and look forward to talking shop with host, E! News correspondent Catt Sadler and co-panelists Amber Venz, Courtney Kerr, and Leigh Ann. If you’re serious (or maybe even just curious) about a career in beauty and style and its glitz and glam reputation, this could be enlightening. A Shopaholic ticket ($20) gives you access to the Designer Shopping Event with DJs, light bites, shopping, beauty touch-ups, and breakout sessions with industry insiders. A Fashion and Beauty Lover ticket ($100) invites you to the midday fashion & beauty panel, and the VIP Fashionista ticket ($200) gives you all-day access, which includes a 10 a.m. brunch and post-panel meet-and-greet. I realize $200 may sound a little steep, but there’s serious potential for making beauty biz connections, and if this leads you to your dream job, well, I think we can call that priceless. Plus, a portion of tickets sales goes to girl power group I Am That Girl, a campaign to boost women’s self-worth. Keep Twitter and Instagram open, girls. This will be a hashtag kind of day.
