Take a cooking class or get in your grocery shopping at one of North Texas’ vibrant farmers markets this weekend.

Coppell Farmers Market

8 a.m. to noon, Saturday

Pastry chef Joe Baker will share his unique cake-glazing skills through a demonstration at 10 a.m. There will be samples and recipes for those in attendance. Baker, who is a regular vendor at the market, has worked at Dallas restaurants such as Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek. Learn more here. While at the market, shop for fresh produce such as new potatoes, bell pepper, and green onions. Shoppers will also find soy candles, sugar scrub, and doggie biscuits, too. Here’s a full list of what the market will have this weekend.

Dallas Farmers Market

The Market |10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday – Sunday

The Shed |10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday and Sunday | 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday

As part of the market’s cooking class series, Chef Joanne Bondy, of Stocks & Bondy, will host a demonstration on Burgundy Beef Braising. Participants will have the opportunity to co-prepare the meal alongside Bondy. Ingredients will be curated from the market as well as Texas farmers and ranchers. The class will be from 7-9 p.m. June 25, and tickets are $65. Take a look at the market’s upcoming classes here.

Get to the market early and explore the market’s 26,000-square-foot food hall and vendor market that houses restaurants and a mix of local specialty foods, artisanal food vendors, and seating areas. Because the size of the market can be delightfully daunting, here are a few tips on how to navigate the space. This week, you can find peaches, arugula, and blackberries. The market’s 70-plus vendors often vary but a list of current vendors can be found here.

Good Local Markets

Lakeside Market | 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturdays

Vickery Meadow Market |10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sundays

Starting this weekend, Good Local Markets will kick off their 2016 Summer Homesteading Workshop Series. Through this summer-long series, participants will learn how to make everything from jams and salsas to bath bombs and woven wall hangings. The classes will take place at The Mix Co-working Space, located at 1450 Old Gate Lane, and Makers Connect, located at 10242 Northwest Highway. Each workshop lasts two hours. Reserve a workshop or see the full schedule and pricing here.

Historic McKinney Farmers Market at Chestnut Square

8 a.m. to noon, Saturday

If you head to the market Saturday morning, browse the selection of organic fresh produce, jams and jellies, honey, fresh-cut flowers, baked goods, and grass-fed beef. Take a break at Dixie’s Store at Chestnut Square. They will be selling soda, old-fashioned candy, ice cream, crafts, and classic toys if you’re looking for some nostalgia.
