“We can come together, get a little bit of exercise, and celebrate the most iconic margarita in Dallas at the most iconic Park in Dallas.”

There are many reasons to love the annual Mambo Miles 5K race—a cold Mambo Taxi at the end of the race to start—but this year’s beneficiary, M Crowd’s Mi Famila Foundation and Familia Fund, tops the list. Mi Cocina’s annual Mambo Miles 5K returns on July 22. The race kicks off at 8 a.m. with a scenic run through downtown and Uptown Dallas, culminating with an after-party at Klyde Warren Park.

1. A Good Cause.

Mambo Miles has always been a race with a cause. “The race allows us to host an event that embraces what we’re all about, which is a brand that is community-driven,” says Edgar Guevara, president and CEO of M Crowd Restaurant Group. “We can come together, get a little bit of exercise, and celebrate the most iconic margarita in Dallas at the most iconic Park in Dallas.” In 2021, the race had 850 registrations, and proceeds were donated to Klyde Warren Park to support its year-round free programming for the community and in preparation for the opening of the newest Mi Cocina location there at the Park a few months later. “The key to our success is people, and during the pandemic, we had the opportunity to take a strong look at how we’re serving not only our guests but our employees,” says Guevara. The M Crowd Familia Fund was an idea born out of Covid and although M Crowd has always supported its employees who find themselves in tough situations or a financial bind, this non-profit allows employees to anonymously submit their requests to a board that can assist them in a private, meaningful way. In 2022, the race grew to 2,050 registrations, and more than $30,000 was raised for the M Crowd Familia Fund. This year, M Crowd hopes to have at least 3,000 registrations and has already raised over $55,000 for the Fund. 2. Tequila!

This year’s race title sponsor is Hornitos tequila. Following the race, participants can enjoy a legendary Mambo Taxi margarita, Eight Elite light lager, or Hampton Water rose’. They’ll also have access to the Tequila Garden, featuring 12 Mi Cocina tequila partners who will be promoting their brands with fun activities and sampling. Look forward to tasting Socorro, Casamigos, Osadia, Herradura, Don Julio, Patron, Calirosa, Lalo, Codigo, Aguasol, Ocho, and Dulce Vida tequilas – motivation to make it to the finish line! “Races typically provide beer after runners cross the finish line, but there’s no race in Dallas that gives runners a margarita,” says Heather Mashburn, vice president of marketing and catering options for M Crowd Restaurant Group. “Why not us?”

3. Bring the family – and your dog.

Although Mambo Miles is tequila-themed, the race is open to all ages and to participants of all athletic levels. It’s not uncommon to see children jogging alongside their parents, people pushing babies in strollers, and even dogs on leashes. Whether walking, jogging, or running, Mambo Miles is a fun event for anyone who loves Dallas, Mi Cocina, and the Mambo Taxi. Want the Mambo Taxi but not the miles? Purchase the Party Pass—the perfect option for those who aren’t interested in walking or jogging 3.1 miles but still want to join in the fun.

4. Doughnuts, Music, and Food Trucks.

In addition to the Tequila Garden, this year, Mambo Miles will also feature a DJ, live music by country artist Grace Tyler, pre-race Mambo Taxi-themed doughnuts and coffee from The Salty Donut, and Mi Cocina food trucks.
