Longtime Battery Distribution Industry Leader to Step Down

Lain Hancock, President and Chief Executive Officer

Lain Hancock joined Interstate Batteries, a Dallas-based replacement battery brand with the largest independent battery distribution system in North America, in 2019 as chief operating officer. In May, he will take the company’s helm as president and CEO, succeeding current leader Scott Miller. Before joining Interstate Batteries, Hancock previously served as chief strategy and emerging brands officer for Keurig Dr Pepper. Before that, he served as CEO of New Jersey-based Bai Brands from 2017–2018. In Hancock’s role as President and CEO, he will lead strategic initiatives to support and accelerate the company’s overall growth strategy as well as cultivate its extraordinary culture.

Scott Miller, Executive Chairman

After serving for more than a decade, Scott Miller will step down from his top leadership post in May. He will succeed his father, Norm Miller, as executive chairman. Norm will move into the role of chairman emeritus. Scott will serve a pivotal role as executive chairman of the board, increasing the board’s impact and value for the 71-year-old Dallas-based company. Interstate Batteries is best known for its starting, lighting and ignition (SLI) batteries. Scott has been with the company for more than 31 years, working across warehouse and corporate roles.

David Forbess, Partner

David Forbess began his career at EY, where he rose to hold a roll as a tax services senior. He joined Cain Watters & Associates in 2009 as a financial planner, and now, he will take on a top management role within the CPA and registered investment advisory firm. He will continue to work with dozens of CWA’s high-net-worth financial planning and wealth advising clients. Today, CWA has $2.8 billion in assets under management, serving thousands of financial planning and wealth advising clients nationwide. Since joining the firm, Forbess has been active in philanthropy, volunteering with the 3to1 Foundation, Scottish Rite and Boy Scouts of America.

Mason Stern joined CWA in 2013, and has brought exceptional technical knowledge, client retention, and problem-solving skills to his deep and varied client roster. These talents have solidified him as a trusted advisor to his clients and to the CWA financial planning department. Now, he will take on a top-level management role as partner. Together with David Forbess, Stern brings the total number of equity partners at CWA to 13. He will continue serving dozens of CWA’s high-net-worth financial planning and wealth advising clients.

Christine M. Finn, Chief Fiduciary Officer

After joining Tolleson in 2016, Christine M. Finn rose to managing director in 2021. She has overseen the rapid growth of Tolleson’s department’s service offerings, including all trustee and estate settlement relationships. She has also navigated complicated legal matters and implemented effective risk mitigation strategies for ultra-high-net-worth and family office clients. In her newly created role, she will continue overseeing complex engagements.

Tracey L. Reyes, Managing Director and Senior Vice President

As managing director and senior vice president, Tracey L. Reyes will take on increased management responsibilities for Tolleson’s Trustee and Estate Settlement Department. Reyes has been with Tolleson for more than a decade in various roles. Her new post will allow her to continue to be an essential part of the growing trustee and estate settlement business, while taking on increased management responsibilities. Prior to joining Tolleson in 2013, Tracey was a practicing trusts and estates attorney.

Andrea Munoz, Executive Vice President and Chief Customer Officer

In her newly created role, Andrea Munoz is responsible for services aimed at delivering high-touch, optimal customer experiences. Munoz oversees elements including data center operations, physical security, customer success, implementations, service delivery, and crisis management. She joined North Texas-based data center development and operation company CyrusOne in 2014 as senior director, service management. She has since risen through three management roles, and with each, taken on increasing responsibility. Most recently, she served as senior vice president, customer operations and success.

Kris Boudreau, Vice President of Originations

Kris Boudreau was most recently production manager at Sabal Capital Partners in Irvine, California. Prior to that, he was executive vice president and head of originations for Plum Lending in San Francisco, where he managed six loan originators nationwide. He was also executive vice President at A10 Capital in Boise, Idaho; regional manager at Riverstone Residential; commercial program manager for the Idaho Department of Lands; and land acquisitions manager at DBBSI Development in Boise.

Whitebox Real Estate

Justin Beck, Managing Director

Justin Beck will lead Whitebox’s new investment sales team as managing director. The new group will be focused on the brokerage of self-storage facilities and recreational vehicle parks. The team will be headquartered in Fort Worth and has a goal for 2023 of $150 million in sales. Beck and his team will market properties across the Sunbelt, including Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, and Oklahoma. Whitebox plans to nearly triple its broker count over the next two years and expects to have 50 employees by 2025. The firm is also looking at opening offices in new markets, seeking to more than double its presence in that timeframe. Beck was previously a director at Trinity Real Estate Services.

Kurt Griffin, Managing Director

Kurt Griffin joined JLL in 2013 as vice president, where he worked for two years before accepting a post as executive managing director at Dallas-based Cushman & Wakefield. He now returns to JLL as managing director. Throughout his career, Griffin has closed over 70 million square feet of transactions totaling more than $3 billion in value. His specialties include project leasing, tenant representation, site selection, building sales, land sales, and build to suits.

Nathan Orbin, Managing Director

Nathan Orbin also returns to JLL after time at Cushman & Wakefield, having joined JLL in 2009 as an executive vice president and national director. He shifted to take on a role as executive managing director at Cushman & Wakefield in 2017, and now, returns to JLL in his newest role. During his career, Orbin has completed lease transactions totaling more than 23 million square feet and sold over 4,000 acres of industrial land. He and Kurt Griffin have collectively closed more than 17 million square feet in industrial leases in the last three years.

Gary Gunter, Vice President of Preconstruction for the South Central Region

Gary Gunter joins Suffolk after spending the duration of his prior career at Austin Commercial, where he began as a senior estimator in 2004 and ultimately rose to vice president of preconstruction and estimating in August 2022. In the last ten plus years, Gunter provided preconstruction services on more than $2 billion and 10 million square feet of construction volume, including the Toyota North American Headquarters, projects at DFW Airport Terminal B, State Farm at Cityline, and Fanny Mae Regional Headquarters, among others.
