I'm just wrapping up the biggest December that I've ever experienced, and definitely the busiest one that our company has experienced. Our industry is healthy on many levels—financing, equity, and leasing are strong, and turnover is low. But we all know that.

From across the country, people are flocking to Texas. Is it the lure of the Lone Star State and what it has to offer, or is it the brokenness they're experiencing in their respective states?

As I return from the ICSC Conference in New York, I look out the window of the plane at the density that is New York City. It is an amazing and awesome place. During the last 20 years, I have seen this city change in so many ways.

Have you ever noticed how different you feel when you go on a trip or just take in a change of scenery? Maybe it’s a weekend away at your farm, a ranch, or lake house. Why are these moments so impactful?

I just returned from ICSC's December conference in New York, where the overall feeling is one of recovery. Hotel room rates were at a premium, and scarce at that. There was a great energy in the air—and a lot of shopping! The conference itself mirrored that same sense of optimism.
