When I Went: March, 2013
Was That the Best Time of Year to Go? Yes, March is perfect because it is in the middle of whale watching season! You can see whales off the coast or take a whale-watching cruise and get right up close to these magnificent creatures!
Why I Went There: Our third anniversary. We also honeymooned there and loved it so we knew we would return.
Who Went With Me? My husband.
We Stayed Here: Honua Kai Resort

You Won’t Want to Miss: Definitely go during whale watching season, which is December through April, with the peak being in February and March. Rent a car (we like Jeeps) and drive all over the island. We’ve heard seeing the sunrise from Haleakala Crater is something not to miss so we plan on doing that next time!
Eat Here: Anywhere in Old Lahaina Village. It’s a cute little strip with lots of restaurants and shops. Anywhere that sells coconut shrimp!
Play Here: Lahaina for nice beaches and Kihei for surfing.
If I Went Again: We would make the trip for sunrise at Haleakala and stay longer!
How Did You Get There From Dallas? We flew to LAX and then to Maui.
Other Tips For Fellow Travelers: Bring hiking shoes and rain jackets so you can see a waterfall up close on the road to Hana.
