When I Went: Feb. 28-Mar. 4, 2013
Was That the Best Time of Year to Go? Anytime except when there is a hurricane
Why I Went There: We went as a babymoon trip and also as my birthday gift. One last trip for just my husband and I to simply enjoy time with each other before we start trying for children. We wanted an all-inclusive resort since we had never been to one before and didn’t want to worry about the costs of going out while we were there.
Who Went With Me? My husband, Paul
We Stayed Here: Excellence Playa Mujeres

You Won’t Want to Miss: The resort offers a bike tour of the area where you can see the top-notch golf course, get a great lesson on the local plants and animals, see and hold the the large green parrots they have onsite, and see some alligators and iguanas if you are lucky.
Eat Here: All ten onsite restaurants are amazing. Our favorites were Basmati, their Indian restaurant, and the Lobster House. How can you go wrong with all-you-can-eat lobster in a restaurant that is over the pool? Also, the bars do a drink called an iceberg–think of a giant beer with a margarita floating in it. So refreshing!
Play Here: The pools and beach are amazing. We rarely left the pool that was outside our room.
If I Went Again: We would stay longer!
How Did You Get There From Dallas? Direct flight from Dallas to Cancun
Other Tips For Fellow Travelers: We upgraded to the Excellence Club with a swim-up suite, and it was worth every penny! Private pool and bar for your set of rooms, cabana drink boy that comes around every hour, towel service, and a better in-room drink selection.
