When I Went: Labor Day Weekend 2011
Was That the Best Time of Year to Go? It’s great to go anytime. Late fall and later spring can be a bit muddy, but the summer and winter are fabulous.
Why I Went There: Aspen is fantastic any time of year! Great food, great golf, great hiking, great biking — you name it — it’s there, and it’s set with the Rockies as the background! Love it year-round. Ski season is around the corner, and I’m ready! Had a chance to go up there twice this summer and loved it. Biking down to Woody Creek Tavern, golf at the Snowmass Club, or hiking at the top of Aspen Mountain. It reminds you that we work so we can vacation.
Who Went With Me? Mom, Dad, and my significant other.
We Stayed Here: Stayed with the family at the house. Can’t give that info out, but the accommodations were definitely five-star.

You get a great view of the town and of Maroon Bells, the most photographed mountains in North America.
Eat Here: Ajax Tavern, L’Hostaria, Brexi, Woody Creek Tavern, Cache Cache
Play Here: Snowmass Club, Maroon Creek Club, rafting down the Roaring Fork, hiking the area at Maroon Bells, and shopping in Aspen.
If I Went Again: I’d spend more time there.
How Did You Get There From Dallas? Frontier and United both fly into Aspen with a stop in Denver. There’s a new direct flight from DFW Airport to Aspen, but I haven’t done that yet. American also does a good flight from DFW to Vail-Eagle Airport (just an hour away from Aspen), but that’s a better option in the summer when you don’t have to drive through snow and ice.
Other Tips For Fellow Travelers: Seriously? It’s Aspen. It’s amazing
