Pita’s Planters

Lupita Rios, the founder of Pita’s Planters, knows firsthand that owning plants can have major mental health benefits. Rios is pursuing a Ph.D. in neuroscience with a focus on depression, and she has had anxiety herself in the past. Two of her favorite mood-boosting hobbies are creating planters and raising plants. After selling her signature geode-inspired planters at farmer’s markets and artisan pop-ups for a few years, Rios and her husband opened a mobile shop last fall. Customers can purchase pre-potted plants or choose their own plant and vessel, which Rios will repot while they browse. Pita’s Planters also carries eco-friendly home goods and plant-themed products from Dallas artisans. See more from Pita’s Planters and find the mobile shop’s next location here.

Raíz Plant Studio

Raíz Plant Studio recently celebrated its first anniversary, and its founders, sisters Rufy and Christian Garcia, have had quite the year. Shortly after opening their storefront on Oak Lawn, the pandemic reached Dallas. Though the brick-and-mortar’s doors closed in November, the Garcia sisters pulled through by transitioning to a COVID-friendly online shop and occasional pop-ups around town. At Raíz, you’ll find snake plants and pothos, Plant Mom and Plant Dad tees, self-care and cleansing kits, and candles. Raíz Plant Studio is also available for interior design consultations and will order, install, and maintain the perfect plants for any space. Start shopping and learn more here.

Oasis Plant Shop

Bethany Mieth and Hannah Street worked together at Ruibal’s for years before opening their own Bishop Arts storefront, Oasis Plant Shop, in 2018. The little green bungalow boasts eye-catching houseplants like cacti, palms, and birds of paradise. Oasis’ all-women team is on deck to help navigate the store’s selection, whether you shop in person or online. They’re also available for indoor plantscaping consultations. Learn more at oasisplantshop.com.

The Plant Project

Owner Bree Clarke opened the first plant shop owned by a Black woman in Dallas last September in the State-Thomas neighborhood. She set out to introduce the healing power of houseplants to customers of all ages, races, and walks of life. Her vision for a community-centered shop was an immediate hit, and The Plant Project sold out during its grand opening. Clarke and her husband Carlos are now shipping plants to customers across the U.S. The Routh Street storefront also carries goods from local small businesses, like home décor, accessories, and cookbooks. Visit The Plant Project’s website to learn more and start shopping.

Jade & Clover

Jade & Clover is the brainchild of Dallas native Giselle Ruggeberg, who opened the Deep Ellum boutique in 2016. The retail maven is also the co-founder of Petal Pushers, a floral shop just down the street. Though Jade & Clover carries apparel, home accessories, beauty products, and giftable goods, it’s best known for its plant bar. Shoppers choose their vessel, select a succulent or two, add crystals, and put it all together with help from the store’s staff. Jade & Clover also carries herb growing kits, seeds, planters, and watering cans. Check out the store’s offerings here.
