In a pastel-painted corner of Deep Ellum’s Main Street (a spot lovingly dubbed “Pinterest Alley” by locals), you’ll find Petal Pushers’ millennial pink scooters, Jade & Clover’s succulent wall, and preppy gifts and stationery culled by Archer Paper Goods. It was only a matter of time before the area scored a workshop destination.
The Candle Bar, a Nashville transplant, is part boutique, part DIY candle-pouring class, with everything you need to create a signature scent. The workshops, held every two hours and priced at $40 a person, include a vessel of your choosing (there are 65 options), 40 mixable scents ranging from “Fresh” (bamboo and green tea) to “Woody” (eucalyptus santal), and an $8 corking fee and glassware for those looking to make it a BYOB affair. Pourings last one hour, and all candles are cured in-house to be picked up or shipped off to its creator.
Shoppable shelves line the shop’s retail-focused front (workshop goers receive 20 percent off) and are stocked with trendy coffee mugs, notebooks, cards, and, naturally, candles by sister company Paddywax. The Dallas outpost is currently in pop-up mode to test the waters, but if the next few months goes well, The Candle Bar could be hosting experiential gatherings, and collabing with local companies, far beyond its August end date.
