The first game went badly. Will the rematch be better? Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

The TCU Horned Frogs most definitely did not become the kings of college football, but you shouldn’t let that diminish what was an incredible season. Elsewhere, the Mavs went an underwhelming 1-3 on their West Coast road trip while the Stars fared just fine without Roope Hintz in their 2-1 shootout win over Mathew Barzal’s Islanders.

Here’s what I’m watching this week:

Monday, 1/16—Can the Cowboys finally defeat Tom Brady?7:15 p.m., ESPN & ABC

The Cowboys have squared off against the greatest quarterback in NFL history on seven different occasions. They’ve lost every time. Will tonight be the night they break the cycle—and, in so doing, win their first road playoff game since 1993? Austin Ngaruiya says probably not. Jake Kemp, on the other hand, says hell yes. We’ll see who is right tonight.

Wednesday, 1/18—Mavericks at Hawks—6:30 p.m., Bally Sports Southwest & ESPN

Luka versus Trae will get a mention in this space until the day that the weird prop bet about Trae playing for the Mavericks reaches fruition. Which is to say, it’s always gonna get a mention in this space.

Saturday, 1/21—No. 14 TCU at No. 2 KansasNoon, CBS

The Horned Frogs quest to win a different men’s championship continues with TCU’s greatest regular-season test: defeating Kansas in Allen Fieldhouse for the first time in school history. We’re only a week removed from the football team losing to a heavily favored blueblood. Perhaps basketball will go the other way.
