The transit agency’s board overwhelmingly voted to fund both the Cotton Belt Line in Far North Dallas and the subway version of a second downtown line. This might sound like a good thing unless you realize that taking on the debt necessary for both could compromise the ability to secure the federal funds necessary for the subway. -650 million

Reaction to its announced $85.4 billion deal to purchase Time Warner has been “chilly” from other corporate executives and the regulators who would need to approve the birth of such a media behemoth as the combined companies would be. -Billions and Billions

Dallas County Jail
Nearly 300 people are listed as being incarcerated even though they’ve been released, some of them years or even decades ago. County officials says its due to a problem with internal jail records that they’ve been trying to sort out (slowly). At one time there were about 800 people erroneously listed as locked up. A judge has ordered the problem fixed posthaste. -299
