Geoff Bailey is Chief of Staff to the CEO and also leads Oncor’s corporate strategy group, where he oversees the strategic planning process by identifying M&A and inorganic growth, along with alternative revenue opportunities and emerging and disruptive technologies. He also serves on the board of Vogel Alcove, a Dallas nonprofit that provides food, clothing, housing, and counseling support to children who live in North Texas homeless shelters, and was previously appointed by the Texas Supreme Court to serve as a state committee member of the Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee. Bailey is a graduate of Leadership Dallas and Leadership North Texas.
Among the things Bailey shared with D CEO editors was the piece of advice he received that has had the greatest impact on his career. “I began my career in politics and was blessed early on to have a friend and mentor in T. Boone Pickens who told me that I lacked the skillsets at the time to be an effective business leader. What he really said was, ‘Nobody is going to make a political guy the CEO of their company. You’re going back to school.’ So, I went back to school and got an MBA at Texas. It completely changed my career.”
