In 1986, just two years after Bob Mohr relocated his family from Indiana to Dallas to dip his toes in commercial real estate, the bottom fell out of the local market.

While this kind of timing would send lesser professionals packing, Mohr stayed the course. Over the next 35 years, he worked himself into the Dallas elite as the inimitable power broker behind the formidable global corporate real estate firm Mohr Partners.

Now, Mohr is building another empire with Mohr Capital. Yet, instead of just representing corporations, he’s leveraging his amassed capital and national network of tenant and financing relationships to buy and develop the ground they operate on.

In 2020, with a pandemic raging and tenant defaults becoming par for the course, Mohr Capital managed to close 12 significant industrial and office transactions valued at approximately $250 million.

“Like many firms during the pandemic, we had to focus on asset management more than ever,” said Mohr. “But as a family office with a single source of capital, we’re nimble. That helped us close transactions in 2020, and we expect 2021 to be our biggest year yet.”

The ascendance of Mohr Capital didn’t happen overnight. Mohr founded the firm in 2000 while still expanding Mohr Partners’ national presence and securing three international alliances to provide occupier clients with real estate services in over 70 countries.

If this sounds like a lot for one executive to have on his plate, it is!

“Bob is a tireless professional,” said Susan Cheng, EVP and COO for Mohr Capital. “He’s driven to make Mohr Capital stand above others.”

Just one month into 2021, Mohr’s tenacity has rubbed off on the Mohr Capital team. The firm already has a healthy pipeline of deal prospects on the horizon.

With a second empire within reach, it’s no wonder Mohr was included in D CEO’s 2021 Dallas 500.

“If you told me I’d be among Dallas’ most powerful business leaders in 1984, I would have laughed it off,” said Mohr. “I’ve certainly worked hard to get where I am, but I’m humbled by the honor nonetheless.”
