Fall is certainly a cider friendly season. The cool, cozy weather begs for the spiced, fruit forward dry beverage.  And now that Bishop Cider Company has taken over the drink shelves at many stores around town, we can support local while supporting our taste buds. But does cider have any room at the holiday table? It certainly does.

Within Bishop Cider Company’s offerings, there are a few particular flavors that will pair well with ham or pie. Their latest Blood Orange Cider cuts through the booze taste with its smooth and friendly sweetness and pairs beautifully with turkey. It’s pleasant, bright, and not overly commanding on the palate. It carries more like a light soda, but with more than 6% ABV, you’ll find yourself more at ease and nicely satiated for the holiday stresses. Not that you don’t love your family, but a little lubricant goes a long way.

Once the pies come out, you’ll want to mix up your cider as well. This time you’ll do well to grab the Crackberry, a blend of cranberry and blackberry, or the Suicider, a blend of cinnamon, allspice and clove. Each pairs wonderfully with the dense, sweetness of desserts, especially pecan pie. It’s time to add some excitement to your palate and mix it up this holiday. Even if you don’t drink during your feast, you’ll find Bishop Cider’s lineup will serve you well into the evening’s shenanigans. Drink up and be merry.
