This Fashion Line Was Created For Teens, By a Teen

On November 11, Dallas-based d.RT launched its first collection. The brand aims to fill a gap in the market–cool, affordable basics for boys aged 10 to 18. The concept is the brainchild of 17-year-old Dylan Thompson, who partnered with his sister and brother-in-law to bring the idea to fruition. You’ll find casual pieces like hoodies and joggers in addition to more polished (but still youthful and fresh) blazers and pants. “d.RT is a concise, buildable wardrobe that can extend seamlessly from casual to dressy, and is built to be worn and re-worn (and re-worn)–just the way you need it to be,” says Thompson on the d.RT site. Shop all pieces here.

Dallas Gets Its First Female- and Black-Owned Plant Shop

You might know Bree Clarke from The Iman Project, which promotes diversity, inclusion, and community-building through creative workshops. Now, Clarke is opening a brick-and-mortar storefront that shares the same mission. With The Plant Project, she’ll introduce the healing power of houseplants to customers of all ethnicities, ages, and walks of life. Last weekend, on Small Business Saturday, the Routh Street shop hosted its soft opening. Its interior is filled with plants galore: Chinese evergreens, palms, and bird’s nest ferns, to name a few. You can also expect home décor, cookbooks, and other wares from local small businesses. Shop available products here or follow @theplantproject_ to learn more.
