Step Inside The Conservatory’s Stunning New Space in Highland Park Village

Last September, The Conservatory opened its first Dallas location in a tiny Highland Park Village storefront. Though the shop occupies just 400 square feet, it quickly earned a loyal following thanks to a tightly edited selection of men’s and women’s clothing, accessories, home décor, and gifts. While this original location will remain open, The Conservatory has launched an additional retail concept nearby.

The Conservatory on Two is a second-floor retail space located just above Chanel and just below Park House. The open and airy shop feels like a treehouse: it’s filled with potted plants and bathed in light from walls of windows. In the center of it all is an iron greenhouse by local artist Larry Whiteley.

The store’s founder, retail visionary Brian Bolke, designed the space to feel like a refuge. “We are providing the ultimate luxury in shopping today,” he says. “Plenty of space, plenty of natural light, and a feeling of calm.”

The Conservatory on Two boasts ten times the square footage of the original Dallas location, offering a more comprehensive shopping experience and additional departments. Still, its inventory is concise. Bolke envisions the shop as a destination for timeless, seasonless wardrobe staples and beautiful investment pieces. This reflects The Conservatory’s eco-conscious ethos. Rather than indulging in fast fashion, he hopes customers will buy fewer items, wear them often, and explore new ways to style them. Bolke also favors brands that share his passion for sustainability and slow fashion.

The Conservatory on Two has exclusive partnerships with over 40 designers and lines. You won’t find Sallée Prive menswear, Lisa Eisner jewelry, or Metier London handbags anywhere else in Dallas. Bolke, who also co-founded Forty Five Ten, has a personal relationship with almost every brand.

The easily digestible men’s and women’s departments highlight the constantly rotating inventory. You’ll find just a handful of pieces on display, and there’s no need to rifle through hangers, as only one size of each garment is displayed. Associates can find your size, similar styles, or alternate colors in the store’s massive stock room.

The shop’s apothecary occupies a nearby sunny corner. Acclaimed fragrance expert Shasa Mitcham is at its helm. You’ll find scents from Salle Privée, Maison d’Etto, and Veronique Gabai, as well as skincare and beauty brands like Votary and Costa Brazil.

The Conservatory on Two also carries an extensive selection of art, décor, and home goods. Abstract art by Lehmann Maupin occupies an entire wall; below them, you’ll find shelves of coffee table books. “The library,” as Bolke calls it, is an ever-evolving selection of titles from artists, designers, and fashion houses. You’ll also find crystals and geodes, tea by Good Company Tea, Lumira candles, made-to-order Mongolian cashmere blankets, and matte black tableware.

When I visited on Tuesday, Bolke and his team were putting the finishing touches on the space. Now, they’re prepped and ready for walk-in customers. It’s not an ideal time to open a new store, but The Conservatory on Two has extensive protocols in place to keep guests comfortable and safe.

The store’s size is ideal for maintaining a safe distance from others, and hand sanitizer dispensers are placed throughout. Additionally, The Conservatory on Two has created a “low touch/high service” model. Visible product tags are under washable plastic or glass, and each product has a Bitly link for more information or remote purchasing. Customers can also schedule virtual shopping appointments, private in-store previews, and contact-free delivery.

“We want our clients to have a high level of comfort and feel relaxed,” says Bolke.

The Conservatory on Two is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Learn more here or call 972-863-8590 to set up an appointment.
