The Scene: Stella McCartney’s Texas-Style Carnival in Highland Park Village

It was no ordinary carnival.

Designer Stella McCartney made an appearance at Highland Park Village on April 12 to celebrate her new colorful collection, inspired by the energy of summer. “It’s a very bold collection,” McCartney said.

Though the weather was less than sunny, the carnival-themed event gave off the laid-back feel of summer fun. The designer made the rounds and took photos with her followers, many of whom were donning McCartney’s platform sneakers and other designs. Models wearing McCartney’s summer designs manned carnival games, as children and fashion elite alike lined up to take a turn.

Of course, no carnival is complete without an array of classic treats. Elevated festival fare such as Italian cream cake popcorn and vanilla bean cotton candy (sprinkled with edible glitter, of course) were passed out throughout the evening, while vegan corn dogs and sliders were offered as a nod to McCartney’s advocacy for animals.
