We chatted with Gwyneth Paltrow while she was in town to get the scoop on Goop.

It’s been a big year for Gwyneth Paltrow. From coining the term “conscious uncoupling” to opening a new pop-up shop in Dallas, the mother of two has a résumé filled with titles like “actress,” “singer,” and “lifestyle guru.”

The Highland Park Village Goop store opened on Monday, but it wasn’t until Thursday night that Dallas’ style stars came out to celebrate with Paltrow. Guests included designer Monique Lhuillier, Dallas-reared Taylor Tomasi Hill (her TTHBlooms arrangements are for sale in the shop), Amber Venz, and DJ Lucy Wrubel (who spun a Coldplay song or two during the event).

Dressed in a midnight blue jumpsuit from the Monique Lhuillier x Goop collaboration and a pair of rhinestone-and-bow-embellished shoes, Paltrow and I sat down to discuss the shop, her favorite moment of the day, and what she’s looking forward to for 2015.

As I type this, I’m polishing off my Halloween candy with only three mini-Crunch Bars to go. But my chat with Paltrow left me inspired—I think I’ll go on the Goop pre-holiday cleanse next week.

Margaux Anbouba: Why did you want to bring Goop to Dallas?

Gwyneth Paltrow: I love Texas. I had my first real part in a movie here when I was 19, so I’ve always had a real fondness for it. When we decided that we wanted to do our second pop-up, I wanted to go into the heartland of America. I didn’t want to just go to New York City because that felt so expected. Dallas is such a strong market for us on the website, so I thought I would love to come and meet our customers here.

MA: How do the products in this store differ from your first pop up in Los Angeles?

GP: There are some overlaps, but we like to focus on working with local vendors. The space looks a little different and Michelle Nussbaumer did such an incredible job here. I love the way the store looks, and we have all sorts of different one-of-a-kind things that we didn’t have there. We also have our Monique Lhuillier line and a lot of clothes that we didn’t have and we do have now.

MA: What do you think of Texas women and their style?

GP: I think they have great style. Texas women have a real joie de vivre and you can see that expressed in their clothes. They love beautiful things, but they also have a lot of personality here, which I really love.

MA: How do you stay healthy while traveling?

GP: Well, I just try to move every day if I can. I tend to be not so healthy when I travel—I tend to drink more alcohol and eat more fried food. Then I go home and try to clean up my act.

MA: What are some of the most important moments of your day?

GP: I really love the end of the day with my kids. We have an evening ritual that I really look forward to. Baths, massages, tea, and chatting. That’s really the best part of my day.

MA: Is it difficult to put your heart and soul into a shop knowing it’s only going to be around for a month?

GP: I find it exciting, actually. I find the ephemeral part of it exhilarating and I think it’s very cool, I guess the finiteness of it.

MA: If you could teach your daughter, Apple, one style lesson, what would it be?

GP: To dress like herself and listen to her own instincts and style. She’s already started to figure this out, she’s so specific about what she wants to wear.

MA: What are you looking forward to for 2015?

GP: I have a movie coming out with Johnny Depp called Mortdecai, so I am really looking forward to that. I am also looking forward to growing the Goop business, and good report cards from my children.
