ShopTalk intern Lauren Adams and a quick and pretty holiday look.

With the holidays approaching, I’ve been on the hunt for a not-too-time-intensive way to vamp up my look. I wanted something fast and festive. Blushington had the solution. ShopTalk intern Lauren Adams and I met at the beauty lounge for a how-to with makeup artist Kate Conkey. “This look is pretty and glam, but it’s quick,” Kate said. Perfect.

She prepped Lauren’s face with Embryolisse, a moisturizer Blushington artists swear by (that happens to ring up at only $16). Kate started with the eyes first to keep a shimmer shadow from being sprinkled over Lauren’s foundation. Becca Eye Priming Perfector was swiped over the lids and followed up with Becca Jewel Dust powder in “Aspara,” a pearlized peach. She perked up the brow bone with a non-frosty highlighter and started on the lashes with a surprisingly pretty khaki green. “It’s still a neutral,” Kate said, “but it’s a little bit different.” She worked Stila’s waterproof Smudge Stick in “Moray” tight into the lash line, “right where the lashes grow.”

Tip: To perfect the job, use a flat angle brush to smooth out the liner.

Kate shaped Lauren’s fair brows with powder and applied mascara. “I always recommend waterproof for parties,” she told us. She curled Lauren’s lashes before and after application.

Tip: Unless your brows are blonde like Lauren’s, Kate recommends selecting a powder that is a shade or two lighter than your brows to fill them in.

Kate used Julie Hewett foundation under Stila One Step Correct multi-colored corrector to even out the skin and make the makeup last longer, and swiped the forehead, nose, and chin with talc-free mineral powder. She opted for a cream blush–Stila’s Convertible Color in peachy pink “Gerbera”–to “keep the luminosity” but recommends a powder for oily skin. Kate used Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in “Moonstone” to highlight the cheek bones and  décolleté.

Tip: For highlighting the décolleté, focus on the collarbones.

For the lip, Kate opted for a stain-like gloss with Becca’s Ultimate Colour Gloss in “Berry Twist.” “It looks scary, but it’s all on how you apply it,” Kate said. She used two layers of the heavily pigmented gloss. “It’s good for a worn look,” she said. (Read: drinking champagne.)

Tip: Use your finger tips to grab minimal product. Press it into the lip and to soften it around the edges.
