When your coworker gets pregnant, she gets cupcakes and balloons? Here at D, she get she gets a magazine photo shoot. Okay, not always. But that’s how it was in the case of our friend and coworker, Chetna Bailey, whose mommy-to-be soiree was styled and captured for the newest issue of D Moms. (Mini Chetna has since been born and is perfect from her pretty head to her tiny toes.) Now let’s talk shopping the look.
Photo above (left): Greylin Chelsie pants, $123, Greylin Calista top, $106, both at Elements and Jimmy Choo sandals, $995, at Neiman Marcus NorthPark; Julie Cohn cuff, $525, online and (right) Waverly Grey Evangeline skirt, $172, at Elements; Brian Atwood suede heels, $425, at Neiman Marcus NorthPark
People have gone mad over those chevron pants from Elements. The gold cuff is a a treasure from local designer Julie Cohn.
That’s me on the right. I could barely take off those gorgeous Jimmy Choo sandals. I was in love. (They’re still at Neiman Marcus.) The black paneled white skirt was comfortable, elegant, and incredibly versatile. (It was paired with several options before the bright top won.)
(left) Elaina striped dress, $275, at Calypso; silver necklace, $275, at Elements and (right) Yoana Baraschi Citron tank, $284, Aesa Excess earrings, $385, both at Elements; ring, stylist’s own
No overalls and pigtails here. Chetna looked perfect in the striped maxi, and with its soft, stretchy fabric, she was comfortable, too. And edgy jewels on a pregnant woman, totally a must.
Ignore that ridiculous face I’m making. Focus instead on those earrings–if you can look away from the neon tank. It seems I love everything Aesa produces. There’s a jewel blue spike at the end of those earrings. Simple, elegant, slightly dangerous.
(left) Cool Change Pom Pom Drift dress, $185, at Calypso; Missoni cardigan, $930, Alexander Wang Alla wedge, $715, both at Neiman Marcus NorthPark; Evocateur Casbah cuff, $297, at Elements and (right) Camilla and Marc leather History dress, $1,148, at Elements; Isabel Marant Malone jacket, $930, at V.O.D.; necklaces and gold pumps, stylist’s own
This shower also serves as a how-to for mixing and matching prints and colors. The idea of the Missoni sweater and a coral tie-dye dress is odd, but executed, it’s a dream. Both ladylike and contemporary.
That. Dress. Yes, it’s tiered blue leather, and it’s gorgeous. Worn with a blazer, it’s surprisingly sweet, but wear it alone, and you’re good for a cocktail party or a night out.
