Lure Salon Opens in West Village

Kristin and I stopped in West Village’s newest salon yesterday to have a quick look. Lure Salon, as it’s called, is promoting this sort of natural, organic vibe, and you can see it immediately when you walk in the door. The space is open, window-y, and furnished in light wood with pops of orange. Designer Bryan Wetz stayed true to his trademark modern-with-natural-materials thing, and we like the clean look. (I could have stayed in one of the restrooms forever with its glossy black walls and funky silver chandelier.) In the center of the shop sits a fantastic weathered wooden bench under a table that’s stocked with healthy treats. Yesterday, we spied mixed dried fruits, chocolate covered almonds, and detox tea. (But don’t worry fellow drinkers; wine and beer is served, as well.) To see the space yourself, head to Lure’s launch party on Friday night from 6 pm to 9 pm for champagne, swag bags, and hors d’oeuvres by AMPM chef Tommy Simpson. No RSVP necessary. Lure Salon is across from Lash Studio and next to our favorite dehairer, Wink. Don’t hesitate to book an appointment, either. The owners are transfers from Osgood O’Neil.

Did any other shop talkers go?

I went with a friend and while the salon was lovely and the food and drink delightful….I learned nothing about the salon. No one offered to show us the different areas where they did treatments and services. (Granted not hard to figure out, but would have been nice to see.)

I did not meet a hair stylist but did meet a nice colorist (Evelyn) who went out of her way to introduce herself.

It would have been nice to have some of the stylist greet you, sit down the guests, do complimentary consultations, fluff up your hairstyle, dust on some blush. But nothing. We stood around and ate and drank (mind you, I am not complaining!)

And it was a wonderful Goody Bag! But not a thing from the Salon itself? Just coupons for places in the neighborhood. Wink, PD’s etc. From the Goody bag you would not even know what type of products they carry? It would have been nice to get a trial shampoo or conditioner from one of the lines they carry. If you let me try a product, I will usually go back and buy it!

There was not a thing in the bag to get me back to the Salon. Maybe a 10% off your 1st visit? Or want to find out more about the colorist and stylists.

I am thinking they have such a clientele from their previous places that they did not need to work on new customers.

It is so pretty and if your salon person works there now, you will love it. But all I learned from the new salon opening? AM/PM Lounge has and restaurant with food and it is great! I will be sure to check out the restaurant.
