I was in New York in April. During the trip, I made it to a local artist craft fair on the streets in Soho. A couple weeks later, Dallas Etsy members banded together and hosted the Handmade Bash, a craft fair at Southside on Lamar. (Think soaps, dresses, stationery, jewelry, etc.) After attending the two, I can say, for certain, ours blew NY’s out of the water. Our artists here are talented and passionate about the things they make, from photographers and clothing designers to jewelry makers and letterpress experts. This weekend, Etsy Dallas is at it again, hosting another fun event (plus booze) for the public. Friday evening from 7 pm to 9 pm, head to Make Shop & Studio, a “modern craft lounge,” for drinks, party favors, and do-it-yourself crafts, which you’ll be able to make. (We’re told no-sew fabric bunting and fabric floral embellished brooches are the crafts of the evening.) There will be a free photo booth, and who doesn’t love that? The whole thing’s free, so there’s no reason not to attend. Make it your happy hour stop. RSVP here.
