Blow Dry Bar at Johnny Rodriguez

I was just complaining about the fact that we don’t have a blow-dry bar like this one in LA, when a note from Johnny Rodriguez Salon popped up in my mailbox. Now, LA’s “Drybar” is creatively a blow-dry-only joint. No cuts. No color. Thirty-five bucks a pop. Johnny Rodriguez is a full-service salon, but we love the idea of their version, “Blow-Dry Bar.” The menu boasts four styles: an up-do (go with the “‘messy’ less structured style”), a sleek, straight blow-out, the “Big and Beautiful” with lots of volume, and the curl job with big, bouncy waves. The prices, sadly, top that of the LA Drybar at $55 and up, $45 and up, $35 and up, and $55 and up, respectively. (I hate the term “and up.” I mean, why bothering listing the price if there’s an “and up,” right?) We do like that there’s a punch card for returning blow-dry-ees. Pay for five blowouts, get one free. Now that we can work with.
