So last week Raya and I went to a party at the Angelika to see the new Valentino film (which we both loved but you have to really adore fashion to appreciate it – i.e. don’t take your boyfriend). At the after party we perused the vintage designer duds brought by local shop, Parkerhawn. To our pleasant surprise Raya found (and bought) the most fabulous black Halston one-shoulder dress from the seventies. And the price was unbelievable. We both figured it would be completely out of her price range but boy, were we wrong. Parkerhawn proprietress, Pam Scrima, explained to us that she has such a love for vintage clothing that she would rather sell pieces at reasonable prices and see them being worn than charging exorbitant amounts and hang on to the clothes forever. Bless you, Pam! So that was our introduction to Parkerhawn which by the way is located above Hadley & Harriet in the cute little house next to La Madeline on Oak Lawn and Lemmon. If you can’t make it over to the store anytime soon, head over to Excuses Extreme Cafe in Deep Ellum this Thursday, May 14 at 8pm for a Parkerhawn fashion show. Proceeds benefit Fashion Benefiting Youth Artists.
UPDATE: Parkerhawn has extended the following offer just for ShopTalkers: “If you mention “ShopTalk” when visiting our Lemmon Avenue boutique you will receive $5 off any purchase until May 31st 2009. No minimum required.”
