I recently received a sample of La Mer‘s newest product, The Body Refiner, in the mail. Sometimes I give things away for others to try and report back on, but not this one, I took it straight home to try this weekend (it’s a tough job, but someone’s got to do it). The diamond-infused sea mud is said to “detoxify and purify skin for a bright healthy appearance” by clarifying the skin and helping restore its smoothness. The grainy formula contains over one and a half carats of diamond dust and “electrically-charged” minerals (tourmaline and sea quartz – pictured at left) that “stimulate circulation and awaken the skin”. I admit it felt a bit rough going on (I have sensitve skin), but what good exfoliant doesn’t? The results, after one use, were definitely apparent. My skin had a radiating (there were visible specs of sparkling dust) glow and was super smooth to the touch. I’d say it’s worth the $110. As the song goes, “diamonds are a girl’s best friend“, after all. Look for it at Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue this April.
