Here’s a loss I hadn’t thought about before: because of Hurricane Ike, more than 238,000 acres of trees were lost or damaged in 29 Texas counties, which prompted Half Price Books and Keep Texas Beautiful to form the Replant Texas initiative. Their mission is to buy and plant trees to replace those lost in the storm. How can you help? In fact, HPB has already promised a minimum of $15,000 to kick off the program, and proceeds will be deliverd on Earth Day 2009.
