I got a couple candles in the mail the other day from altru. I love candles. Truth is, though, they all start to smell the same to me after a while. But the scents of altru’s candles were a fresh surprise. The “Wellness” candle smelled of white clove and wild ginger, and “Harmony” had the scent of tanenashi persimmon. (I don’t even know what that is, but it smelled delicious.) The candles sit in a hammered copper holder and come packaged in a pretty box, each collection with a different culturally-inspired package. Plus, with the candles named “Appreciation” and “Passion,” who wouldn’t want to give these a try to get some good energy flowin’? But even better than the scent or container, altru supports In a Perfect World, a non-profit organization, which aims to help the children of our country. Doing good never smelled so good. The products are available in Anthropologie and Neiman Marcus stores or at www.gamillahboutique.com.
