It’s a Bird! It’s a Plane! It’s Duct Tape!

|

Here at D Beauty we are constantly bombarded with press releases for just about every new product on the market. It would be nice if PR people did their homework and only sent information that related in some way to our magazines, but like the rest of us, I’m sure they don’t have time. And I should actually be thankful for this because their lack of research has supplied us with oh so many laughs. First there was the “Hot Flash Sleepwear,” then the “personal lubricant” which was ironically followed by a new birth control method. Today’s winning press release touts the wonders of duct tape and how it can help with all those wedding mishaps. They suggest using it to fix a broken strap on a shoe (like that won’t be obvious), or to de-lint your wedding dress (you know, the one with the one-of-a-kind silk spun by endangered moths in Madagascar that cost as much as a car). Call me crazy but using duct tape on delicate, expensive material is just a little risky in my book. And you don’t have to worry if your maid of honor can’t remember how to bustle your dress, just duct tape it! That will make the wedding photos even more special. They list several other possible uses, each more “unique” than the last. There’s even a web site where couples can report how duct tape saved their wedding. It’s a contest so maybe you can win something swanky like a duct tape scrapbook for all those precious wedding memories.
